ENGLISH LITERATURE: CRITICAL AND DIDACTIC APPROACHES
The course consists in two parts: the first will be offered by Alessandra Petrina and the second by Nicola Estrafallaces. Both parts will focus on a canonical text of British literature as occasions and instruments for critical and methodological analysis, which may also be aimed at educational purposes.
The main topics of the course are:
William Shakespeare, King Lear, 1606.
Edward Morgan Forster, Howards End, 1910.
Lectures will be in English, ppt presentations and audiovisual materials will be used in class.
Great attention will be offered to textual analysis and active participation in class, where group discussions will be part of continuous assessment.
The course Moodle page will be used to share materials integrating the reading list. If so willing, students may also decide on presentations on a topic of their choice (to be agreed upon by your professors).
We strongly recommend regular attendance.
