Dearest,
as mentioned yesterday, here are the instructions for the second Progress Test:
1) Read the text of the Battle of Brunanburh from line 10 (where we stopped yesterday) to line 20.
2) Provide a translation in Modern English (in prose or verse).
3) Recognise and analyse the metrical pattern (allitteration and, only if you want, rhythm/accents) of the lines.
4) Recognise and analyse the rhetorical figures (wordhoard, variation, kenningar, etc.) you find in the passage.
Please send your work as a Word document by Sunday 1st November. I will give you the results by the end of next week.
