Welcome to the Virtual Reconstruction and Digital Dissemination in Cultural Heritage course at the University of Padova. This innovative course bridges the gap between traditional archaeological sciences and cutting-edge digital technologies, preparing students for the evolving landscape of cultural heritage preservation and communication.
In today's digital age, the preservation and dissemination of cultural heritage increasingly relies on virtual reconstruction and digital technologies. This course offers a comprehensive framework that combines theoretical foundations, methodological approaches, and practical applications in the field of digital cultural heritage.
Through a carefully structured curriculum, students will master the Extended Matrix methodology, a formal language for stratigraphic documentation that has revolutionized how we document and interpret both tangible and intangible cultural heritage. The course emphasizes eight fundamental competencies essential for modern digital humanists, ranging from source research and analysis to 3D modeling and digital storytelling.
Our blended learning approach combines theoretical lectures with hands-on laboratory activities, allowing students to immediately apply concepts through practical exercises. Students will work with industry-standard tools such as yED, Blender, and photogrammetry software, gaining valuable experience in real-world applications of virtual reconstruction techniques.
The course is designed to foster a collaborative learning environment where students can develop their individual interests while maintaining a comprehensive understanding of the entire reconstruction process. Whether your passion lies in archaeological documentation, 3D modeling, or digital storytelling, you'll find opportunities to specialize while learning to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
Graduates of this course will be uniquely positioned at the intersection of cultural heritage and digital innovation. As digital humanists, you'll develop the skills to serve as bridges between scientific research and creative industries, opening up career opportunities in:
Join us in exploring how digital technologies can breathe new life into our cultural heritage, making it more accessible, understandable, and engaging for future generations.
