MThe International Spring School “Pottery in Ancient and Contemporary World. Materials, Societies, Economies, (and Forgeries)” intends to analyse and discuss topics closely linked to the economic and social relations of different societies with ceramics, from the Greek world to the contemporary world, thus also investigating issues such as the archaeology of production, ceramic archaeometry and, obviously, the theme of collecting and forgery.
The International Winter School intends to continue the scientific path started by the previous editions of the Winter School “Anthropology of forgery. A multidisciplinary approach to the study of archaeological fakes” and “Anthropology of forgery. Art Collecting, Authentication and Innovative Tools for a Culture of Legality in Cultural Heritage”.
Thanks to its international and multidisciplinary teaching staff, this International Spring School will investigate the relationships between the main technological production in the history of mankind and the social and economic changes occurred in the different civilizations, defining the role of ceramics in the contemporary world (from handicrafts to artistic productions, from the collection of archaeological materials to their falsification for fraudulent purposes).
