WRITING METHODS AND COMMUNICATION STYLES

Nowadays, the key to efficient and articulate communication is not only what you communicate, but how you communicate. In fact, method and style in speaking and in writing is what makes you stand out in the crowd, empowers you and endows you with essential opportunities.

During this course you will acquire fundamental skills and knowledge in writing techniques and communication styles.

The course will be comprised of two main parts.

The first part of the course will introduce the following writing methods:

§  persuasive,

§  narrative,

§  expository,

§  descriptive.

By the end of the course you will be able to not only distinguish among the above mentioned writing methods, but also apply them correctly and productively.

The second part of the course will untangle the main communication styles for you, enabling you to deliver an effective, competent and eloquent speech in applicable contexts.

You will learn how to navigate the pool of different communication styles and how to accurately outline and implement them in various situations.

The main communication styles covered in the course will be:

§  assertive,

§  passive,

§  aggressive,

§  manipulative,

§  diplomatic.

The course will be held in English, it is highly recommended to all international students and can be registered as “communication techniques lab”.
