Having dedicated a year to the role of a teacher, I gained invaluable practical experience in creating engaging and inclusive learning environments. Currently, I am immersed in the pursuit of a PhD in Pedagogical, Educational and Instructional Sciences where my research interest converge around teacher education and inclusive practices.

Research Interest: Teacher Education and Inclusive practices.

PhD project abstract: Inclusive education, aimed at providing equal opportunities for all children, necessitates educators equipped with the principles, attitudes, values, and skills to teach a diverse student body successfully. Despite the shift towards identifying impediments to learning, professional development programs challenging traditional notions of inadequacy are still lacking. The "Comparative Teacher Education for Inclusive project" underscores four critical values for inclusive teaching : supporting all learners, cooperating with others, appreciating learner variety, and engaging in professional development.
However, in resource-limited countries, the provision of inclusive education training remains challenging. This is evidenced by the low percentage of teachers in sub-Saharan Africa receiving in-service training in inclusive education. The study also reveals substantial needs for professional development related to teaching children with special needs globally. Italy, often lauded for inclusivity, faces a shortage of teachers competent in teaching students with special needs, underscoring the demand for inclusion-related professional development.
This research aims to analyze barriers to teacher's skill development for promoting inclusive education, contributing to the development of national standards and teacher training programs. The study also seeks to provide a framework for training teachers in skill development for impactful inclusive education. The objectives include analyzing the role of teachers as change agents, evaluating ways to prepare teachers for inclusive education and discussing existing national guidelines.
