Dear Students,

this Thursday May 13th at 4.30pm will be held the last meeting organized by Nova Didaxis inside the cycle Apprendere insieme! 2.0: "Engaging Difference in the University Classroom", the speaker will be Edward Taylor, from UniPd.

Over 3000 international students attended University of Padova in 2019 from 121 countries, with the largest numbers of arriving from Romania, Albania and Burkina Faso. Female students represent over 52% of the university population. These figures reflect just the tip of the multicultural iceberg at UniPd, which also includes as well, a range of differences based on socioeconomic status, race/ethnicity, age, religion, sexual orientation and disabilities. This diversity represents a challenge as well as an often-overlooked opportunity for both instructors and students who want to foster successful student-teacher relationships and who want to make the most of difference in their classrooms.
In response the objectives this workshop includes: exploring our own assumptions about diversity in the classroom and its implications for teaching and learning, investigating the benefits and challenges of difference in the classroom and introducing a culturally responsive approach to teaching both face to face and online.
