We are very pleased to invite our EMT students to the second edition of the EU Summer School of Multilingualism in Luxembourg for the summer of 2025.
This summer EU summer school is co-organised by the EU translation and multilingualism directorates and services in Luxembourg and it is a joint project of:
- the Directorate-General for Translation of the European Parliament;
- the Directorate-General for Translation of the European Commission;
- the Directorate-General for Multilingualism of the Court of Justice of the European Union;
- the European Court of Auditors;
- the European Investment Bank's Linguistic Services Division;
- the Publications Office of the European Union;
- the Translation Centre for the Bodies of the European Union.
In the words of the organisers you are invited to designate one student per University programme to send his application to excellencehubs@europarl.europa.eu. as follows:
Dear members of the EMT network,
We are contacting you about an opportunity that may be of interest to you.
The Multilingualism Hub of Excellence for the EU institutions in Luxembourg is organising the second edition of the Multilingualism EU Summer School.
A total of 35 students from all corners of the European Union will have the chance to visit the linguistic services of the EU institutions in Luxembourg, as well as the city itself, and receive training from EU translation and interpretation staff. Among the 35 spots, 27 are reserved for students enrolled in a European Master’s in Translation programme.
We are contacting your university to offer one of your students the opportunity to be a part of the second edition of our Summer School.
What does this entail?
All relevant information about the Multilingualism EU Summer School is attached to this email.
One of your students may have the chance to be a part of this enriching experience organised by the EU institutions based in Luxembourg.
The selection process is as follows: your university is invited to select one candidate to join the Summer School, and the candidate must provide a filled-in personal information form (attached), a Europass CV and a motivation letter (attached). Universities must submit their candidate and all relevant documentation by 14 March 2025 to excellencehubs@europarl.europa.eu.
The selection committee will then select one student per EU country.
Why join this programme?
Here is what our 2024 alumni had to say:
- ‘The opportunity to connect with a community of passionate students and experienced professionals and to learn about EU institutions and their work – while immersed in the vibrant city of Luxembourg – was an invaluable and enriching experience that broadened my horizons and helped me to develop a deeper understanding of the European Union.
- The Multilingualism EU Summer School was a catalyst for building new friendships, creating invaluable professional networks and fostering my personal growth!’ – Andrea A. C. T.
- ‘A once-in-a-lifetime experience I will cherish forever.’ – Anna-Maria S.
- ‘The Multilingualism Summer School illustrates one of the European Union’s greatest strengths: connecting people across the continent. During our time together, we spoke collectively over 20 different languages, but we all discovered common ground and formed meaningful friendships in a very short period of time. This shared experience and mutual understanding represent what can be described as the true European language.’ – Marcin S.
If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to get in touch with us. We look forward to hearing back from you.
