Launch of "United Nations Youth Mental Health & Well-Being Flagship Report" - 23.09.2026, time 12.00 ET, at NYU Helen and Martin Kimmel Center for University Life Rosenthal Pavilion (60 Washington Square S, New York, USA).
As a member of the UNYO Academic Committee, I am pleased to share the launch of the report on the flagship initiative "Youth Mental Health & Well-Being in an Uncertain World," promoted by the United Nations Youth Office (UNYO), which has now reached its final draft stage.
The presentation event and the launch of the "call for action" will feature a discussion among a panel of external experts and are scheduled to take place in New York on September 23, 2026. As the presentation indicates, this is a global call to share and disseminate the initiative; we recognize that the ambitious aims and objectives outlined in the report can only be achieved by sharing the directions and aspirations defined within the flagship project.
“Join the United Nations Youth Office, United Nations University Global Health, and NYU Silver School of Social Work during the United Nations High-Level Week for the official launch of the Youth Mental Health & Well-Being in an Uncertain World: A Global Call to Action flagship report and a timely conversation with global leaders, researchers, practitioners, and young people about how we can translate this vision into action.
Young people are coming of age amid profound uncertainty—from economic instability and climate change to conflict, inequality, and a rapidly evolving digital world. Youth Mental Health & Well-Being in an Uncertain World: A Global Call to Action calls for a broader approach: one that recognizes mental health as a fundamental human right and looks beyond individual treatment to the interconnected environments in which young people live, learn, work, connect, and thrive.”
The involvement of young people as key players on a global scale will be crucial. To this end, a participatory initiative titled “Real People, Real Talk: Youth Mental Health Matters” has already been launched; it can be viewed at this link:
