Title PhD project (in progress):

GenAI-powered Personalized Learning Effectiveness within Blended Corporate Medical Device Training: A Mixed Methods Modelling Framework

Abstract PhD project (in progress):

Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) is transforming the contemporary educational field, while evidently facilitating the fulfilment of students’ individual learning needs and enhancing their learning outcomes via Personalized Learning (PL) solutions. Its growing implementation within organizational learning strategies introduces industry-specific challenges, particularly with regard to its integration into Blended Learning (BL) environments. The medical device industry, as a major continuous professional education provider, is one of the primary beneficiaries of effective GenAI-powered PL solutions for BL modalities due to its heterogeneous learner populations and the requirement to combine physical, hands-on training in medical device application with virtual, theory-based learning.
This sequential mixed-methods study aims to develop and validate a comprehensive model of learning effectiveness factors for GenAI-powered PL strategies within blended corporate medical device training. The objective of Phase I is to identify key factors through interviews with educators, learners, and GenAI developers in the medical device industry, which are subsequently validated in Phase II via a large-scale survey analysis. Phase III aims to synthesize the findings into a theoretical model to derive practice recommendations for blended and medical device centered training curricula, aimed at enhancing learning effectiveness through GenAI-powered personalization.
Grounded in constructivist learning theory, this research seeks to advance evidence-based understanding of how GenAI can personalize BL approaches in corporate medical device training, responding to calls for context-specific pedagogical effectiveness research about GenAI-enhanced PL in BL settings aligned with organizational learning objectives. Data collection has not yet commenced. The abstract is therefore tentative.
