The goal of my project is to build a foundational ontology of Cultural Transmission, understood as the cornerstone of contemporary evolutionary approach to culture, and provide a logical formalization of it. The construction of a foundational ontology of cultural transmission, primarily in the domain of contemporary evolutionary archaeology, which over the past 40 years has adopted and reworked the Darwinian approach to culture, aims to formalise the theory of cultural change in material culture. The knowledge representation produced with the foundational ontology is intended to be a theoretical tool that allows the study, organisation, and comparison of archaeological data and enables the construction of more explanatory archaeological models and simulations.
